This was the first poll in months that predicted McCain in the lead, so it attracted a lot of attention.
I work in research and to assume that Obama’s supporters are that much more likely to not turn out is very very strange. When looking at excitement and enthusiasm in this election, Obama is killing McBush and when you add third party candidates into the mix, you see that by Obama picking up another 3% from people leaving McCain for Nader or Barr.
These types of bad polls are used to discourage one candidate’s supporters and give the other candidate’s supporters hope. And why would they do that you ask? Because the USA Today is involved and they can’t sell papers when everyone knows Obama is going to win, so they make it a close race.
